2017 EORU Senior Men’s Season Begins With Tryouts in March

After a successful revival last season, one in which the EORU senior men’s rep program won both of their matches, the 2017 season for the senior men will begin with open tryouts in March.

The first training session will take place on Sunday, March 12th from noon to 2pm. Training will be held at the Ben Franklin Dome, located at the corner of Hunt Club and Greenbank Road. Players wishing to attend should arrive by 11:30am in order to register before the session.

There are currently two matches scheduled for this 2017 season, both of which are rematches against opponents from 2016. The first match will be played on April 30th against Rugby Quebec in Ottawa. The second will take place in Toronto against the Ontario Emerging Blues on June 24th. More matches will be announced when details are finalized.

We were proud to have representatives from seven different Eastern Ontario clubs play with the 2016 rep program. After strong showings, three players also played in the Canadian Rugby Championships; Ryan Surgenor and Myles Dingwall for the Ontario Blues, and Conor Keys with the Atlantic Rock. After the end of the CRC, four EORU players played with the Ontario Blues as they took on Irish touring side Cork Constitution to end the 2016 Ontario Blues season; Ryan Surgenor, John Shaw, Pat Lynott, and Ibrahim Bouiahadi.

More information to be provided at the session on Sunday.
