EORU U17 7s Teams Set for Ontario Summer Games

The EORU U17 7s men’s and women’s sevens teams are on their way to London, ON for the Ontario Summer Games.  The team bus left early Thursday morning with 48 athletes and 7 team staff ready to represent Eastern Ontario at the bi-annual Ontario Summer Games.

After a rigorous selection process and training schedule two boys and two girls teams were selected.  “The interest in the EORU Junior 7s program is multiplying, and the talent is simply growing,” said Sonny Raina, Director of the Sevens Program for the EORU.  “These young athletes will give it their all at the summer  games, and their skills will develop even more when they apply themselves in the Rugby Ontario Fall 7s Series. This bodes well for the game of rugby 7s in Canada.”

With representation from eight of the region’s clubs, the teams are set to showcase the best the EORU has to offer.

The competition kicks off on Friday, August 3rd, with the medal rounds taking place on Saturday, August 4th.
