Referees needed for a Sr. Boys Rugby Tournament The 5th annual Al Charron Cup at Hillcrest HS in Ottawa on April 24th.

To whom it may concern,

I attained my level 1 referee courses in 2013 and am currently certified with Rugby Quebec. I was a referee throughout 2014 and would like to continue reffing in Eastern Ontario. I currently attend Ottawa University and play for the Women’s varsity rugby team. I was wondering whom I should contact in order to give my availability and information to find out whether I could ref around the Ottawa region?

Leagues

Many clubs run teams in several leagues to provide opportunities to players at all skill levels. The Eastern Ontario Rugby Union (EORU) currently hosts or interlocks in the follow leagues for men and women:

Super League - This is the premiere league in the Fédération de Rugby du Québec (FRQ) and features clubs playing elite rugby. The Ottawa Indians, Barrhaven Scottish and Ottawa Irish compete at this level.

Division A - This is second-tier league in the FRQ and features advanced level rugby. The Bytown Blues, Ottawa Irish and Ottawa Banshees represent Eastern Ontario in this division.

Division B - This is a tertiary league of the FRQ and clubs play intermediate level rugby. The Ottawa Beavers, Ottawa Indians and Kingston Panthers field sides in this division.

Division 1 - This is the premiere league in the EORU and competition is at the intermediate level. Clubs playing in Division 1 include Barrhaven Scottish, Brockville Privateers, Bytown Blues, Cornwall Crusaders, Kingston Panthers, Lanark Highlanders, Ottawa Indians, Ottawa Irish, Ottawa Wolves and the Upper Ottawa Valley Lumberjacks.

Fall - The fall league is recreational in Nature and runs from September through the end of October. It is a fun league where many clubs field combined sides and where getting a game and having fun is just as important as winning … almost.
